An Act To Protect Young Bucks in Northern, Eastern and Western Maine

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §11402, sub-§3-A  is enacted to read:

3-A Minimum antler requirement in certain counties.   Except as provided by rule pursuant to sections 11152 and 11153, a person may not take a deer that does not have at least 3 tines of one inch or more along the main beam of one antler in Oxford, Franklin, Somerset, Piscataquis, Penobscot, Hancock, Aroostook and Washington counties.

SUMMARY

This bill prohibits taking deer that do not have at least 3 tines of one inch or more along the main beam of one antler in Oxford, Franklin, Somerset, Piscataquis, Penobscot, Hancock, Aroostook and Washington counties except as provided by rules adopted by the Commissioner of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife that establish antlerless deer permits or special season deer permits.
