An Act Regarding Health Care Ombudsman Services

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 22 MRSA §3174-X, sub-§4, ¶¶H and I,  as enacted by PL 2015, c. 511, §1, are amended to read:

H. Apply for and use grants, gifts and funds for the purpose of performing the duties of the program; and
I. Collect and analyze records and data relevant to the duties and activities of the program and make reports as required by law or as the department considers appropriate . ; and

Sec. 2. 22 MRSA §3174-X, sub-§4, ¶J  is enacted to read:

J In the case of an eligible member who qualifies for health insurance coverage under the federal Affordable Care Act, as defined in Title 24-A, section 14, during a special enrollment period pursuant to 45 Code of Federal Regulations, Section 155.420, support that eligible member in applying for federal Affordable Care Act special enrollment health insurance coverage to be paid for by the eligible member.

SUMMARY

This bill allows Medicaid contracted ombudsman support services to be expanded to support an eligible member applying for federal Affordable Care Act special enrollment health insurance coverage to be paid for by the eligible member.
