This legislation
authorizes the Bureau of General Services within the Department of
Administrative and Financial Services to purchase or lease real property for
the implementation of the Statewide Radio and Network System. Pursuant to PL 2007, chapter 240, the
Statewide Radio and Network System received a General Fund appropriation of
$1,652,757 in fiscal year 2007-08 and $3,423,253 in fiscal year 2008-09 for
debt service for approved development projects. Language authorizing the purchase or lease
of property was not included in that legislation. Contained in the Governor's proposed
supplemental budget is a reduction of $800,000 in fiscal year 2008-09 for a 6
month delay in financing scheduled in fiscal year 2008-09. Despite the proposed reduction, the Bureau
of General Services has indicated that any costs associated with the purchase
or lease of real property to complete the project can be absorbed within
existing budgeted resources. |
