Potential current biennium cost increase - Budget Stabilization Fund
Fiscal Detail and Notes
Expanding the list of eligible law enforcement officers whose family would be eligible to receive a one-time State benefit of $50,000 in the event the officer dies in the line of duty to include forest rangers, Baxter State Park Rangers, detectives employed by the Office of the Attorney General, investigative officers employed by the Department of Corrections, juvenile community corrections officers, probation officers, Capitol security officers appointed by the Commissioner of Public Safety, and motor vehicle investigators appointed by the Secretary of State will increase the potential impact to the Budget Stabiliazation Fund.  The cost can not be determined at this time.  However, given that there has been only one occurance in which this benefit has been paid since this provision was enacted in September of 2001, the impact to the Budget Stabilization Fund is not expected to be significant.
