Required Activity Unit Affected Costs
The requirement that school administrative units report the energy consumption data for each school facility within the unit's jurisdiction to the Department of Education on an annual basis is a State mandate pursuant to the Constitution of Maine.  The impact to school administrative units can not be determined at this time. Fiscal Detail and Notes
The Department of Education may require additional General Fund appropriations for the additional staff and program support costs associated with tracking the energy consumption data reported by school administrative units and reporting the information to the Public Utilities Commission and the Governor's Energy Office.  The amount can not be determined at this time.
The additional costs associated with providing additional energy efficiency funds for school administrative units can be absorbed by the Public Utilities Commission utilizing existing budgeted resources.
