The State Police program within the Department of Public Safety will require additional General Fund appropriations of $144,795 and $198,072 in fiscal years 2007-08 and 2008-09, respectively, and additional Highway Fund allocations of $217,193 and $297,108 for the same fiscal years for 2 additional State Police Trooper positions and operating costs necessary to accomplish the enforcement responsibilities of mandatory OUI testing for all drivers involved in accidents that result in bodily injury.  In addition, the Highway Safety program within the department will also require additional Highway Fund allocations of $2,518,594 and $3,358,125 for fiscal years 2007-08 and 2008-09, respectively, for the costs of conducting OUI tests for all drivers involved in vehicle accidents which result in bodily injury.
