An Act Relating to Studded Tires
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §1919, sub-§4 is enacted to read:
4. Exemption. Subsection 1 does not apply to pneumatic tires that feature embedded blocks, studs, flanges, cleats, spikes or other protuberances that are retractable. The protuberances may be engaged or extended only between October 1st and May 31st of each year on roads that contain ice or snow.
Summary
This bill provides an exemption for year-round use of pneumatic tires with retractable studs, flanges, cleats, spikes or other protuberances.
