An Act To Increase Reimbursement for Jury Duty
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 14 MRSA §1215, as amended by PL 1991, c. 528, Pt. E, §13 and affected by Pt. RRR and amended by c. 591, Pt. E, §13, is further amended to read:
§ 1215. Mileage and compensation of jurors
A juror is entitled to paid mileage at the rate of 15¢ 36¢ per mile for travel expenses from the juror's residence to the place of holding court and return and to compensation at the rate of $10 $50 for each day of required attendance at sessions of the court.
SUMMARY
This bill raises the mileage paid a juror from 15¢ a mile to 36¢ a mile and raises the compensation from $10 a day to $50 for each day of required attendance at sessions of court.
