An Act To Increase Beano Revenue

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 17 MRSA §314-B, sub-§2,  as enacted by PL 1987, c. 197, §4, is amended to read:

2. Prizes.   Notwithstanding the prize limits in section 317, an organization operating a winner-take-all round under this section shall pay all proceeds from each winner-take-all round as prizes, provided no winner receives more than $500 $1,200.

Sec. 2. Rules. By October 15, 2007, the Chief of the State Police shall amend the rules of the Department of Public Safety, Bureau of State Police pertaining to games of chance. Rules adopted pursuant to this section are routine technical rules pursuant to the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2-A. The amended rules shall provide that each lucky seven or similar sealed ticket game may contain up to 30,000 tickets.

This bill increases the maximum payout in winner-take-all-beano rounds from $500 to $1,200. It also directs the Department of Public Safety, Bureau of State Police to amend its rules pertaining to games of chance so that lucky seven or similar sealed tickets may contain up to 30,000 tickets.
