Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

 
Sec. 1. 7 MRSA §75-A, sub-§3, as enacted by PL 2001, c. 421, Pt. B,
§4 and affected by Pt. C, §1, is amended to read:

 
3. Fees. The commissioner shall charge a permit fee of $10
$20 per pull day, up to a maximum of $50 $100 for pulls held on
consecutive days at the same location. All revenue derived from
the permit fees must be deposited in the General Fund.

 
SUMMARY

 
The purpose of this bill is to more equitably distribute the
costs of the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources
statutorily required monitoring and enforcement of animal welfare
laws. This bill increases the permit fee for pulling events from
$10 to $20 per pull day and increases the maximum permit fee for
pulls held on consecutive days from $50 to $100.
