Sec. 1. Adult remedial education services. Resolved: That the Department of
Education, in consultation with the Department of Labor, Division
of Deafness, shall establish adult remedial education services
for former students of the Governor Baxter School for the Deaf
and the Maine School for the Deaf. The services must include
classes, which must include, but may not be limited to, basic
instruction in literacy, computer skills, math and independent
living skills and must be accessible to students living in all
geographic regions of the State. The Division of Deafness shall
assist the Department of Education in identifying people in need
of the adult remedial education services.

 
SUMMARY

 
This resolve requires the Department of Education to establish
adult remedial education services for former students of the
Governor Baxter School for the Deaf and the Maine School for the
Deaf. The services must include classes, which must include
basic instruction in literacy, computer skills, math and
independent living skills. The classes must be accessible to
students living in all geographic regions of the State. The
Department of Education must establish these services in
consultation with the Department of Labor, Division of Deafness.
The Division of Deafness shall also help identify people in need
of the adult remedial education services.
